First Presbyterian Church, Lancaster PA is seeking a Director of Music Ministry (part-time) to provide leadership and coordination to the music ministry of the church.  The Director reports to the Associate Pastor, supervises music ministry staff, volunteers and guest musicians, and collaborates with and coaches Praise Band leader and digital production specialist. The Director of Music Ministry is not responsible for administrative/managerial oversight of staff.

Essential Functions: Lead music ministry of the church ● Recruit and lead Chancel choir; select music for weekly service based on scriptures and themes supplied by pastors; prepare for and conduct weekly rehearsals (September through May): prepare scores, order music and main music library of FPC ● Provide support to organists, bell choir and children’s choir leaders ● Coordinate music for traditional and on-line services year-round using congregational members and guest musicians; provide guidelines and recommendations for music to be implemented; submit timely payment requests for guest musicians ● Arrange for outside instrumentalists and soloists for special services (Christmas Eve, Good Friday, etc.) ● Minister to choir members; contact those who are ill or need care, send flowers, cards and visit as appropriate ● Coordinate concerts held at FPC by outside performing groups ● Prepare and submit timely articles regarding the music program and events for church newsletter and publicity materials ● Prepare and administer annual music budget; maintain sanctuary organ (with FPC organist) and pianos by arranging for maintenance as needed to maintain all in good working order

Knowledge/Skill/Ability Requirements: ● Four-year college degree in music, or equivalent, is required, Master of Music preferred ● A minimum of three years of experience as a choir director and director of music, or equivalent and transferable experience ● Demonstrated knowledge of and experience working with and training singers ● Knowledge of sacred choral repertoire ● Understanding and willingness to support contemporary worship music ● Experience conducting orchestral instruments ● Strong time management, communication and organization skills; self-motivated leader 2 ● Mature faith in Jesus Christ ● Keyboard skills preferred Core Competencies Spiritual Maturity – has a grounded faith with guides decisions and is able to lead others in music that inspires participants and listeners. Team Building and Motivating Others – creates climate in which people want to do their best; motivate volunteers and empower others.

Work Relationships: Leadership and supervision of music ministry staff and volunteers, frequent communication with pastoral staff for planning of music which is compatible with, and reinforcing of, theological messages; communication and coordination within the Lancaster community and beyond for special event planning; occasional participation in staff meetings; serve as a resource for staff in music ministry matters (hymn selection, children’s choir, handbells, and children’s Choral Camps). Physical Requirements: Job requires physical navigation of steps throughout the church; lifting and moving boxes of music and supplies (up to 25 pounds); excellent hearing; direct and assist with preparation of sanctuary for music events (risers, music stands, chairs, podium, microphones).

Availability for Work: Job requires approximately 20 hours per week throughout the year with weekly evening hours for rehearsals as well as Sunday and holiday hours. Work schedule during the summer months is focused on planning the music program for the rest of the year; weekly rehearsals are suspended June-August. The Wheatland Chorale, one of the area’s premiere choral ensembles, seeks a collaborative accompanist to begin in September 2025. [If available, the candidate could start April 28, 2025, for our Wheatland Chorale Festival Singers rehearsals of the Brahms Requiem. Festival Singer rehearsal schedule and concert dates are provided on the Wheatland Chorale website. The availability for the Festival singers will have no bearing on the decision for the larger position.] The accompanist is a member of the artistic staff and works in collaboration with the Artistic and Associate Directors.

Roles and Responsibilities:  Serve as principal accompanist for all rehearsals of the Wheatland Chorale and the Wheatland Chorale Festival Singers on Monday evenings from 7:00 - 9:00 pm in Lancaster generally from September – April; Serve as principal accompanist for all concerts, typically held in December and in April. Occasional concerts are added outside of our subscription concerts; Assist in rehearsals and sectionals when needed.

Qualifications and Skill Set: Ideally, a bachelors and/or masters degree in music, advanced accompaniment and soloist skills on the piano, solid proficiency in open score and ability to play multiple parts at once, advanced sight-reading skills, organ skills preferred but not required, understanding of the role of the collaborative accompanist in rehearsal and performance, and proven collaborator and ability to work with artistic staff, board, and singers.

Compensation: A 1099 position, the Accompanist will be paid a professional fee for services of $5,000 annually in 4 installments in September, December, February, and April.

Augustus Lutheran Church, Trappe PA is seeking a passionate and talented Director of Music and Organist to lead and enhance our worship music program. This position offers an opportunity to honor our strong liturgical traditions while inspiring and guiding musicians of all ages. Grandview Church in Lancaster is seeking a part-time (10 hours/week) organist for its 11:00 AM Sunday traditional worship service and special services throughout the church year. Reporting to the Director of Music, the organist serves as accompanist for the adult choir that rehearses on Thursday evenings. Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Ephrata PA is seeking an organist to provide musical leadership to worship services, including one weekly Sunday service, evening services during Advent and Lent, and services during Holy Week and on Christmas Eve. General responsibilities include playing the Moller pipe organ during worship, planning worship music in conjunction with the Worship and Music Committee, coordinating organ and piano maintenance, and maintaining the music library. St. Alban’s Episcopal Church, Sinking Spring, is seeking a Director of Music. This is a 1/4-time (8-12 hours/week), salaried position paying $20,000/year. Schedule: Sunday, 9-11:30am; Wednesday, 7-8:30pm; Office Hours, meeting hours, and practice time to be scheduled in consultation with the Rector. Skills required: organ and piano competence; choral rehearsing and conducting; administration and planning of the parish music program; supervision of special vocalists, volunteers, and special musicians; and strong service playing skills (hymns, service music, anthems, and the rhythms of liturgy) and familiarity with music in the Anglican Tradition. Duties: Musical leadership for liturgies, including Choral Eucharist on Sunday mornings at 10am in the Program Year and 9am simple sung Eucharist during the summer, non-Sunday Major Feasts (Christmas Eve, Ash Wednesday, Holy Week (Maundy Thursday Good Friday, Easter Vigil), and possible Choral Evensongs (or Lessons & Carols), twice annually. Wyomissing Church of the Brethren at 2200 State Hill Rd, Reading PA 19610 is looking for a pianist to accompany our two choirs on Thursdays from 5pm to 8 pm and for playing hymns at our service on Sundays 10:00am-11:30 am. All Saints Church, Communion of Reformed Churches, in New Holland, PA, is prayerfully seeking a Service Music Accompanist for weekly and seasonal services as well as other musical activities throughout the calendar year. All Saints is a growing congregation celebrating its 25th year with over 50 households in membership consisting of over 250 people. We recently had the opportunity to move into an existing historic church building with the goal of ownership that has a wonderful pipe organ and grand piano. We are looking for someone who is able to come in and use these instruments to accompany the glorious praises of his people during covenant renewal worship primarily. We also have a robust and growing adult and children’s choir program that would require accompaniment as well as other special services through the church calendar year. In light of the growth we are experiencing there is potential for the candidate to increase the scope and responsibilities of the position to include working with choirs and musical education as growth allows.

Qualifications: The ideal candidate would be proficient in playing Organ and Piano in service music and choral accompaniment situations with commensurate training and experience required. General knowledge and familiarity of historic protestant and reformed sacred music is also expected. The ideal candidate must also be able to serve at all services, seasonal services, choir rehearsals, summer music camp, psalm sings, and other activities as requested by the Session. A background in choral music and music education is desired, but not required.

Hiring Process: Upon receiving and reviewing cover letters and resumes or CVs, there would be an initial phone call/video call interview with the Director of Music and Choral Director. This would be followed up by an in-person interview with the Pastoral Staff and/or Session. Upon successful completion of these steps, the candidate would accompany a service and/or accompany a choir piece. The final decision on employment would be determined by the Session and result in sending an offer of employment with specific scope and terms. Palm Lutheran Church, Palmyra PA is seeking a Part-Time Director of Music. Our congregation is located near Hershey, Harrisburg and Lancaster. Our weekly worship is largely based around Lutheran resources from Evangelical Lutheran Worship and With One Voice. Our organ, which is the primary instrument used for worship, is a three manual Moller with 18 ranks of pipes. It was installed in 1967 and rebuilt in 1994 with 20 additional Walker electronic stops. Additional instruments include a Yamaha C7 grand piano in the nave, a Baldwin upright on the balcony, a Steinway upright in the choir rehearsal room, five octaves of Malmark handbells, three octaves of Malmark choirchimes, two Lugwig copper timpani, two conga drums and a full collection of Orff instruments. The Director of Music will work with the pastor and Worship and Music Committee to plan and lead the Sunday assembly, and other special events on organ or piano. We currently have an active Sanctuary choir which sings throughout the fall, winter and spring seasons, three to four times a month during worship service on Sunday mornings. Our hand bell choir performs approximately six times a year.
