The Lancaster Chapter of the American Guild of Organists will host a recital at the historic Trinity Lutheran Church on Thursday, June 13, at 7:00 PM. The pipe organ will come alive at the hands and feet of local organists as they raise funds for their scholarship efforts.
Music selections will range from some of the earliest works of Dietrich Buxtehude and J.S. Bach to late- Romantic French works. In addition to performances by Frank Dodd, Joy Ide, Gary Garletts, Dr. Ross Ellison, and Kyle Postlethwait, Dr. Robert Horton will play a live improvisation on a submitted musical theme. The concert will close with Dr. Karl Moyer performing Marcel Dupre’s great “Prelude and Fugue in G minor,” a virtuosic piece that will be sure to make the organ sing!
Trinity Lutheran is located at 31 South Duke Street, Lancaster. Parking can be found in the lot adjacent to the parish house and in the Duke Street parking garage. A freewill offering will be taken to support the Guild’s scholarship funds, which provide scholarships for young people to take organ lessons.
